Meet the McCarthy Bertschy Team

Tom Jagielo joined McCarthy Bertschy as a Partner in December 2022 after 2.5 years with the bioStrategies Group, a strategy/analytics-focused management consulting firm recently acquired by Charles Rivers & Associates. Prior to that, Tom spent 25 years building and leading the life science search practice at Martin Partners, a rapidly growing and innovative boutique search firm in Chicago, Illinois.

Tom has over 25 years of experience recruiting in the Life Sciences industry. His clients span the biotechnology, pharma, molecular diagnostics, medical device and specialized consulting sub-sectors. They have ranged from large, public Industry leaders (Amgen, Genentech) to private, cutting edge, novel science start-up companies (GRAIL, Cognoa). Functionally, he has recruited General Management, Commercial/Business segment Heads, Medical/Scientific Affairs, and Value/Access/Policy/Pricing/Reimbursement roles. He is an entrepreneurial professional with a deep understanding of the changing healthcare landscape including precision medicine, molecular diagnostics, gene/cell therapies and digital health.

Tom began his career in sales with Roche Laboratories, the pharma division of Hoffmann La Roche. He is originally from Ohio where he graduated from Miami University. He now calls Wayne, Illinois home having resided in this “Norman Rockwell” equestrian community since 1995. Tom is a member of the Dunham Woods Riding Club and the University Club of Chicago. He originally was a very active squash and tennis player but now finds himself on the platform or pickleball courts.

Fun Fact: Tom is a huge professional tennis fan and is working towards attending all four major tournaments. One more to go – the Australian Open!
